Natural Homemade Soap – How to Make Yours
Soap might just be one of the most common items around the home. And, although you might not have considered it, making small changes to the soap you use can really make a difference in terms of green living! It couldn’t be simpler to create this soap from scratch, and the ingredients mostly come ready-made anyway. The best thing is that it isn’t just eco-friendly, it’s also healthier. It doesn’t contain the common ingredients that are shown to cause cancer and other illnesses.
Making Your Natural Homemade Soap
All you need to make the simplest form of liquid soap is a natural, organic bar of soap and some distilled water. Follow these quick instructions:
- Chop the bar as small as you can, or grate it into a pile.
- Boil a few cups of distilled water and add in the soap.
- Keep the mixture simmering and allow it to all mix together.
- Slowly add more of the soap and the water.
- Keep mixing and cooking to make sure it’s all melted – otherwise you’ll put it into a pump and it’ll get clogged up!
- You’ll now need to get the thickness of the liquid right. Keep it overnight, and if by morning it’s too thick you’ll need to add more water.
All soaps are different, so it could take some experimentation to get it the right thickness. However, as you can see it’s an extremely easy recipe to follow! You can even make your soaps smell lovely by adding in some essential oils, helping you to create different varieties when you feel like it.
