Natural Carpet Cleaning – Why You Should Go Green!
When it comes to cleaning your carpet there are a number of methods currently available. But did you ever stop to think whether your current method is eco-friendly or not? Here are a few tips on choosing natural carpet cleaning methods that are good for both you and the environment.
Non-Toxic Cleaners
One of the best reasons to go with natural methods to keep your carpets clean is that these products will be non-toxic. Choosing a non-toxic product means that they should be made with completely natural or organic ingredients, ingredients that are safe for the environment and bio-degradable.
When it comes to traditional cleaning products, most of these are full of man made chemicals that can damage the environment as well as health problems including allergies. So next time you are out shopping, try to see if there are any carpet cleaning options that are completely organic. For example, there are a number of carpet cleaners now utilising ingredients such as citrus for their powerful and natural cleaning effects.

Keep Your Carpet Cleaner for Longer
The benefit of using natural ingredients extends beyond the fact that they can save your health and protect the environment. They also do a better job at keeping your carpet clean for longer. This is due to the fact that they don’t leave a residue as other carpet cleaners would. Without this residue, there is less for dirt to stick onto and you will find that your carpet stays cleaner for a lot longer.
A Few Carpet Cleaning Tips
- Vacuum your carpet first – done frequently this can remove even well-embedded dirt from your carpet.
- Make a natural carpet stain formula – Some stains are very hard to get out using all natural methods, but don’t give up because it is possible. Try mixing 1 cup of vinegar with 1 cup water and half a cup of baking soda. Just spray it on using a spray bottle and let it dry. This is a completely natural and healthy way to remove stains, including pet stains!
- A natural carpet freshener – All it takes is essential oil and baking soda sprinkled over your carpet. After a short while you simply vacuum it and your carpet will be a lot fresher!
Our tips are not guaranteed to work, so remember to be careful when trying any home remedy. However, baking soda and vinegar have been tried and tested when it comes to cleaning jobs around the home! For more money-saving green ideas check out Green Solutions.
