Read below our sponsored ads for more information on eco friendly cleaning to help the environment, your health and your budget.

When it comes to laundry detergent and other products that you use on your clothes, there are many reasons why you should consider using natural products. If you want to know why, simply read our other posts. For now I’m going to give you a few recipes on making your own homemade laundry products and dryer balls to save money, save the environment and protect your health.

A Laundry Soap

There are a number of natural laundry soaps available to buy from stores, but it’s also pretty simple to make your own. If you wish to try it all you with need is 2 cups of grated soap (make sure it’s a natural soap), 1 cup of borax and 1 cup of washing soda (make sure this is non-toxic). Just mix these ingredients well and put them in an airtight container. You will only need to use a couple of teaspoons for each wash you do, and you can add vinegar to the final rinse to soften your clothes.

For Your Dryer

When it comes to drying your clothes do not think that dryer sheets are any better than detergent! On the contrary, these also contain a large number of harsh chemicals such as chloroform and camphor. Try to avoid using dryer sheets as a way of avoiding these products being absorbed by your skin.

When drying your clothes, what you can do is to make use of dryer balls. Though these do not have exactly the same effect as dryer sheets, you can certainly live without those! What these dryer balls do is to make sure that you use up less energy when it comes to drying your clothes. These balls are fragrance free, but can make up for dryer sheets to some extent by separating your clothes as they dry. They will make your clothes dry quicker, and the good news is that these balls are widely available and very cheap!

Conclusion

Being eco friendly does not mean that you always have to make your own recipes. Sometimes it can be convenient to buy a ready-made option, and the good news is that there are plenty of these when it comes to your laundry! Alternatively follow our homemade laundry soap recipe above and you should have beautifully clean laundry!
