Eco Friendly Cleaning Products – The Environmental Implications

Read below our sponsored ads for more information on eco friendly cleaning to help the environment, your health and your budget.

In my last blog post I talked about some of the general ways that non eco friendly cleaning products can be bad for our health, and how they leave a residue in our homes and on our items. In order to fully understand why you should try to go green, I’m going to explain to you the environmental implications of using these products.

Packaging and Waste

Have you ever thought about how much packaging comes with your cleaning product? Many of these containers are simply thrown away after use, filling up toxic waste dumps. The chemicals made to make these containers will eventually be released into the earth’s atmosphere, and will especially be sent into our water systems – polluting the earth and the creatures on it.

Using Up Energy

The most common kind of chemicals used in household cleaning products, petrochemicals, will typically use up a lot more energy in their creation than natural cleaning products will. If we all started to use natural products, the amount of oil used would be reduced by tens of thousands!

Toxic Substances

Not only does each individual cleaning product pose a threat to our health and the environment, but combining them together can make matters worse. In our daily lives many of us make use of a number of different cleaners, especially when it comes to using bleach and other cleaners, the mix of which can be lethal.

If you want to improve the situation then you should read up on the effects that chemicals have, both alone and combined. Eco friendly cleaning products will greatly reduce these risks, and are only slightly more expensive.
