Eco Cleaning Can Help to Reduce Dangerous VOCs
VOCs or Volatile Organic Compounds are becoming more and more talking about – but not for good reasons. They are very dangerous gases that get released from a number of solids and liquids. Eco cleaning is one way to help minimise the effects of these gases.
The side effects of VOCs can include:
* Eye, nose, and throat irritation
* Headaches
* Loss of coordination
* Nausea
* Damage to liver, kidney, and central nervous system
* Respiratory distress
* Cancer
These are not problems that can be ignored. The gases aren’t just emitted at the time products are used, they are actually released for long periods of time – as long as decades.
Paint is one example. When you paint the walls, the gases will be released for years and years after the paint was first applied and dried.
Products Containing VOCs
VOCs can come from many different household items, including:
* Paints
* Paint strippers
* Solvents
* Wood preservatives
* Aerosol sprays
* Cleansers and disinfectants
* Moth repellents
* Air fresheners
* Petroleum fuels
* Hydraulic fluids
* Hobby supplies
* Dry-cleaned clothing
They are a real contributor towards the reason why the air in our homes is so polluted – in fact, our homes are two to more times more polluted than the air outside!
However, you can help to avoid any more VOCs in your home by practicing methods such as eco cleaning. Try to avoid air fresheners, chemical cleaners, non-organic products, and you can improve the state of the air in your home.
